I have been drawing frequently, expanding  my long standing series of autobiographical amalgam journey drawings, using ink, pencil and watercolor on pages of hot-press Arches paper. I take my pad when travelling, & on road trips, walks, festivals, parties etc., & do tiny sketches & notes of conversations, food, place names...
Back in the studio, I embellish, & work further on the drawing , rearranging the pages, not necessarily chronologically, to create a new form containing remnants of space and time.
Each work has a resonance of a particular location but morphing into new forms.Accident and the unexpected play a part.
The works are highly detailed, modest in scale and reveal their secrets slowly.

This drawing comes from a trip to Tasmania, & a visit to the 'Birdwing Bienalle' an extraordinary event held on a farm near Weegena .The characters, and actions are depicted merged in a wonky grid of burnt summer paddocks, cicadas, canoes on the Mersey, local cheeses, missed aircraft, fine wine & road signs.
